Went along with the Runners Need Team to document their time at Ragnar Relay. What is Ragnar Relay? Reebok Ragnar Relays are overnight relay races for teams of five to 10 friends. Team members split 170-ish miles of road running with the help of team support vehicles that transport runners to each exchange point. The course is broken down into 30 “legs", so each teammate will run three legs with each leg ranging between 3 and 11 miles and varying in difficulty. And the race doesn’t stop at sunset, so most run one leg in the dark. When you’re not running you’ll be soaking in the scenery, cheering on your friends, grabbing some Z’s, kicking back at the exchange points (where there’s food, entertainment and gear) and building a monument of memories with your new BFFs. Evans Cycles was celebrating its 10th year running Bike Fest for all its employees. What is Bike Fest? Bike Fest is a chance for all Evans Cycles employees to come and test the new bikes for the following year, it allows both in-store staff and head office staff to test new bikes, speak to brand reps and learn about all the new technology thats been brought into cycling.

Arc 1600 is one of the smaller villages in the resort and although it is built for function rather than beauty it still possesses a certain rustic charm. It is the lowest of the Les Arcs villages and the funiculaire stops here. You can also access 1800/1950/2000 via the free bus from this village. Les Arcs is continuing to grow and all the villages are receiving many improvements each year. There is a small selection of shops and restaurants but with all the amenities that one could need. The village is completely pedestrianised. The closest town to Les Arcs is Bourg Saint Maurice. This is easily accessed via the funiculaire that runs everyday during the Winter and Summer seasons. There is a friendly local community and a few large supermarkets. There is also a swimming pool, train station, cinema and various bars and restaurants. It's lively throughout the year and there are some lovely local festivals and a Saturday market. To get to the funiculaire you can take the free bus (navette) to Les Arcs 1600.

At Runners Need, we have always believed that it’s never too late to start running. Just ask our founder Chris Bould, who didn’t set out on his first run until the age of 26, when he joined the Highgate Harriers in 1979. Inspired by his experience in the USA, where he raced in the New York City Marathon and visited their specialist running retailers, Chris and his wife Judy founded the first Runners Need in Camden in 1982. Chris went on to break a 30-minute 10K and achieve a PB of 2 hours 22 minutes in the fifth ever London Marathon by 1985. He even started a 10K road race in nearby Regent’s Park.
